UWS Graduate and Scottish Poet Celebrates Debut Collection
University of the West of Scotland (UWS) graduate and emerging Scottish poet Simon Lamb has launched a dazzling debut collection of poetry, A Passing On of Shells, fully-illustrated by much-loved former Children’s Laureate, Chris Riddell.
Simon, who graduated from the PGDE Primary Education degree at UWS Ayr Campus, has published his collection of fifty luminous poems, each written in exactly fifty words!
With subjects ranging from family, identity and growing up, to the need for hope, the wonder of nature, and the very concept of poetry itself, Simon offers small nuggets of wisdom, warmth and wit to help readers of all ages navigate their lives.
“It has been the most wonderful of journeys to publication,” commented Simon. “And the really exciting bit of the story is that the book is fully-illustrated by former UK Children’s Laureate Chris Riddell, who has illustrated work by authors such as Neil Gaiman, J K Rowling, Matt Haig and Michael Rosen. Yes, I am still pinching myself!”
