Alumnus and Pharos University Engineering Professor Visits Paisley

The University was delighted to welcome former PhD student, Professor Mohamed Abou-Ali, now the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Pharos University in Alexandria (PUA), Egypt, back to campus recently.

Professor Abou-Ali who studied engineering at the Paisley campus from 1988 – 1992, took time out from his trip to the UK visiting the University of Wolverhampton on University business, to make the trip north to take a tour of the Paisley campus and a trip down memory lane. This visit was the first in over 30 years.

A Professor of Industrial Engineering, Mohamed’s PhD research area included artificial intelligence and expert systems of optimised welding procedures for rotating tube TIG welding of Babcock and Wilcox, Scotland, UK.

Previously, he served as Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs at the American University for one academic year (2014/2015) and Head of Production Engineering for one year (2015/2016). He has been Dean of the Faculty of Engineering – Pharos University in Alexandria since September 2016.
