Accounting Graduate Awarded OBE in the New Year Honours List

Angela Noon, University of the West of Scotland graduate and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Royal Mail, has received an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in the New Year Honours list for services to Further Education.

Angela, who graduated from University of Paisley (now UWS Paisley Campus) in 1996 with a BA Accounting, said: “Delighted to receive the OBE in His Majesty, the Kings New Year honours list. It truly is humbling to be granted this recognition.

Thanks to all the colleagues at the Department for Education and other institutions that have supported me. I feel very fortunate to have so many valued relationships.”

Prior to taking up her role with Royal Mail, Angela was CFO and Executive Director of Siemens UK. During her 20 year career with Siemens, Angela held several senior management positions in the UK and overseas, including Global Vice President and CFO for the Digital Enterprise Software segment, a key unit for the industrial digitalization strategy of Siemens.

In addition, Angela was Chair of the Skills and Productivity Board (SPB), an expert committee providing independent, evidence-based advice to ministers at the Department for Education on matters relating to skills and their contribution to productivity.
