It is with sadness we share the news that former UWS Principal, Professor Richard Shaw, CBE, passed away on 10 March 2022.

Richard was Principal from 1986 to 2001, during which time university status, the merger with Craigie College, and the award of nursing contracts were achieved. Richard was the first Principal of the University and the seventh Principal of the institution in its previous form as Paisley College. A portrait of him hangs proudly in the Court Room.
