Alumna wins Scotland goal of the year and ranks in top 100 best footballers
Former UWS business student Erin Cuthbert is celebrating winning Scotland goal of the Year and ranking in the top 100 best female footballers.
Erin’s strike against Jamaica in May 2019 saw her land the title against stiff competition, including Men’s captain Andy Robertson’s strike against Cyprus in June.
One of Scotland’s most promising football talents, Erin was also named in the Guardian’s 100 best female footballers in the world ranking at 76.
Midfielder Erin, 21, who left the UWS marketing programme at Paisley Campus to play football professionally with Chelsea, netted with a powerful shot from distance in front of a record-breaking 18,555 crowd at Hampden Park. Erin is in good company with previous winners James Forrest (Albania 0-4 Scotland, November 2018) and Leigh Griffiths (Scotland 2-2 England, June 2017).
